'Curing' TB

Ok so another post got me wondering....(just noticed title should say T2 not TB!)

If you've quit carbs and have 'normal' BG readings - does this mean you're considered cured from type 2?

Do you then go back to eating a normal diet that includes carbs and would it cause BG to spike back into type 2 ranges?

Or are you considered cured by your BG numbers despite not consuming foods that would raise BG? So really, it's not cured, just avoided through diet but will come and bite you should you eat without thought again?

I hope that makes sense! I was having trouble articulating myself. ;)

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

To me, in that case since you wouldn't have "cured" only controlled it if you could only get non-D numbers by avoiding foods that raised your BG.

Yes I think you would soon go back to diabetes levels if you ate normally again, As far as I am aware if you have been diagnosed with diabetes then even if you can keep your levels at near non diabetic levels you are still diabetic and there is no cure for it... well until a cure is found

I can't help out with type 2,but reading your post it says curing TB? just thought I would mention the heading,

With best wishes

Hi
I agree, I think that as soon as you start refined carbs ( White bread, rice pasta etc) your BG will start to rise, and you will get back to high numbers in the longer term.
Try one day to have all the carbs you want, and test after each meal, and see what happens.
In my case pasta will send me from about 6 to 12 or over in an hour, and it takes about 4 hours to get back to the 6 figure again.
I don't eat pasta

Thought so too. Interesting how some books or articles say you can reverse diabetes. To me that's such a false claim - if you can't eat whatever you want any more then you're not cured - just controlled.
