Dawn phenomenon and fasting

Hi all, I’m really struggling to control my levels (hba1c 70!) and I hoping someone might have some advice. Ive just started using the libre2 and have now noticed how bad I suffer with Dawn phenomenon. Sugars fine all through the night 5 and 6’s and then @6.30 I was 12.7 with a rapid rise!

my question is, although I correct the high and inject my basal first thing I often skip breakfast and I’m wondering if this makes the Dawn phenomenon worse? Yesterday I was chasing my tail and continually correcting until about 1pm when things started to settle. I’ve tried increasing my morning levemir dose but it just makes me continually hypo in the afternoon.

sorry for the essay but it’s all getting on top of me at the moment and I’m feeling pretty down and tearful right now.

Its sure a nuisance isn’t it. I have certainly found that eating nothing doesn’t help at all. I have a strict 10 carb Greek yoghurt with berries every morning and found I need less insulin with that than without. The body seems to panic without a hint of food. I still try and keep food low carb in the morning, ditching cereals etc many years ago. Even a boiled egg may help.

Thank you Becca I’m going to try that and hope it helps
