My husband had a liver transplant a few years ago and since then has developed diabetes due to the steroids he had to take and immuno-suppressants. He now has to inject insulin every day and take metformin, and I am really worried about the long-term effects of this. He is tired all the time. I am wondering if anyone has any experience of this and whether a low-carb diet would be effective or if anyone has any advice about how he can get off the insulin. His blood sugar was very high. He was told, before his transplant, that not everyone develops diabetes but I wonder if this is true, the reason why and if something can be done to help him?
