Hi folks,

I've mentioned this before, but as it's the season of colds and sniffles I thought I'd just share it again.

I'm under the weather and I've got a very scratchy sore throat - and I'm easing it by drinking hot jelly. Teaspoonful of Hartley's sugar-free strawberry jelly granules in a mug of hot water - it's ever so soothing.

(I appreciate that this is not suitable for vegetarians or those who can't have artificial sweetener.)

Have just made a pint mug of hot jelly and am sipping it at work. The workshop smells beautifully of strawberries and my throat is troubling me less already.

Gargle with TCP @Snapsy , but plenty of hot drinks should do the trick.

I've always found gargling with Soluble Aspirin to be very effective.

Gargle with salty water. I don't fancy swallowing TCP inadvertently! lol

I'm gargling morning and evening with a strong salt solution to kill the bugs - jelly is just the Lockets substitute.

Dalgetty's Honey & Ginger tea - very strongly gingery but works a treat!

Hot lemon water plus if your meter can take it, a little honey. That used to be my poison!

I used to use Strepsil sugar free lozenges till I realized they contain Maltitol syrup which is almost as bad as sugar it's self.

Now I just gargle with Corsodyl mouth wash which has anti bacterial properties it's OK as long as you don't swallow it.

Increase Vitamin C on the onset. Chewing a clove of garlic and some onion is also beneficial! This is a bit ironic as I always forget these remedies and let nature takes its course!
