So I’ve been all well controlled and managed. My diet worked perfectly for work. Still had a bigger ruse in morning and lunch up to 8 or 9 but that’s after food. Rest of time I was fabulous. Sugars drip after lunch and stay quite stable.
Then I had second covid jab and it’s broken.
My diet isn’t enough. So what I’d eat for breakfast would last me till lunch and I’d never feel hungry. Now I’d happily eat lunch by 10 and even with a snack then I’m hungry by 11.
Yesterday I feel nauseous all morning till I ate lunch. Have not had it that bad for months.

I’m trying to add in extras like low carb sausages, cheese extra eggs etc but it’s not what it was before and I’m all out of sync and don’t like it.
Then yesterday despite eating more carbs (I’d gone to tesco to get carb feee snacks like ready cooked chicken and they all have carbs in) I dropped to a 3.9 when I’d got home. This was via libre 2, my meter said 4.7.it’s all over the place.
Not higher it seems like they have dropped.

And I don’t know how to get it back to how it was, not perfect but far more stable and I knew exactly what to eat and when etc

Hi,

When you tested with the Libre then the meter, was that simultaniously?

How long ago was your second vaccination? It takes a few weeks for the immunity to build up afterwards. During that time your body will act as if you are fighting illness.

Last Thursday. So I know it’s the jab it’s just how to cope with the weird changes without mucking everything up

If I were you, I would just ride it out. It is only temporary and has happened to many forum members.

Im just not sure how to ride it out.
Do I just up my no carb food and just eat and eat?
I just don’t want to keep eating more carbs because then I’ve got to get rid of them again. The odd day I don’t mind but everyday and I’m going to creep up again

Just keep in mind that your hunger is a temporary thing. Nothing wrong with feeling hungry. It won't harm us. We are told these days to avoid hunger, but really that is not good teaching. Embrace the hunger and enjoy the anticipation of a meal. No need to eat extra. This is a good opportunity to get to know hunger and explore the feeling.

Very true.
Main issue is I can’t just eat when I’m hungry because with covid i can’t eat in car.
Pre covid i could always just have a quick snack if I felt iffy. Now can’t do that. So now and it’s Sod’s law that before lesson I feel fine and not hungry then in middle of lesson I start to feel sick, but drained and Empty and hungry. But if I’m in a lesson I can’t eat. I can stop lesson and eat if I’m desperate but I don’t like doing that because they’ve paid for a lesson and it feels disruptive. So that’s the main issue.
I’ve gone back to having a snack regardless of how I feel between lessons to avoid it but I’m obviously not having enough because an hour later I’m hungry again or feeling icky.
Today I had a sausage and an hour later I started to feel hungry. when I’m home it doesn’t bother me I’ll just eat something.
When working it’s a lot harder.
The hunger itself isn’t the problem but when I get hungry I generally feel sick or feel a bit iffy. Teaching learners when you don’t feel great isn’t that pleasant.

Sorry but it looks like you just agreed experiencing hunger won’t hurt you, then go on to say you can’t tolerate being hungry for less than an hour (assuming lessons are typically an hour, two at most).

If it’s still happening at the weekend maybe don’t eat at these signals and see what happens. It might just go away again ignored. Is it really just a bit of hunger or something more? what are the bloods doing at these points? Few people have to eat hourly for real although the vaccine could be making odd things happen. Have you always eaten as soon as any hunger hits (part of the old carb rollercoaster habits?) or is it a response to the diabetes meds/fear of hypo.

My lessons are always 2 hours.
I agreed that hunger is temporary and nothing scary.
At home it’s not a problem.
Sorry really tired so not quite with it.

i don’t like teaching when I feel rough. I don’t concentrate properly and struggle to do my best.

I probably have always eaten as soon as I get hunger. Because I don’t like the feeling if I get too hungry and feel rough.

mainly now I think it’s because I don’t like the feeling and then being responsible in the car teaching or driving.

My lessons are always 2 hours.
Why not plan a parking practice halfway through the lesson with a 1 minute break afterwards? The student can stretch their legs, you can step out of your car to shove a quick bite in to feel better, and your student will have missed one minute of their driving lesson. Or you can plan the lesson to last 121 minutes instead of 120 so the break will be unpaid.

of I am desperate I do stop and eat my pupils are all happy with it and time gets added on.
Depends really on what the plan is for the pupil. We don’t always do manoeuvres and depending on the lesson stopping isn’t always easy.
It’s an impossible situation but it’s one I have to deal with.
I’ve just been to tesco and bought some salami chicken things which have some carbs in, sausages which are higher than my usual ones. Hopefully enough to keep me going but not too high to make me go too high.
Last night it looks like I hit the 3s in my sleep!
Also got some jelly babies for emergencies. Fingers crossed the D decides to settle down soon, it was lovely not needing to test as much or worry because I knew exactly what to eat when to eat and how much etc.took me ages to get to that and I’m not enjoying all this weirdness again.
Thanks everyone for the advice

It's when the sensor suddenly reads much lower than you are when you're asleep. Presumably this happens when you lay on the arm with the sensor.

The sharp dip in your picture looks completely different from the rest of the day, the graph makes much more sense if you imagine the line just continuing without that dip.

Ah ok. Thank you

I’m hoping this is a good sign.
I’m hoping that it means I don’t need the extra carbs. I had one small tomato for brekkie that I’ve only added due to sugars dropping.
