Diabetic exclusions

Hi,

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last week. I have filled in and returned my prescription exlcusion form to my GP and am now awaiting my certificate to come through. I know also that as a diabetic I get free eye tests (I already wear glasses). I was wondering if there are any other exlusions that apply to diabetics, e.g. dentists. I have been having massive issues with my gums recently on top of everything else and need to go see the dentist, but want to check whether this is something i can get checked for free before i hand over any cash.

Sorry becky we don't get free dental treatment.
It is essential that you tell the dentist that you now have diabetes and also what medication you are taking.
Most people find that once they get their blood sugars under control that their dental health improves.
