Yet another idiot HCP who has no idea.
Migraine is a serious and debilitating condition of varying degrees. I have it and I fear ir more than the diabetes. After 25 years of suffering, ambulance transfers to A&E and dumb GP's who simply don't understand, I have finally found a drug that works.
One of my colleagues has a type that, after MRI scans, many months off sick and worry still had no diagnosis. I saw her recently and she told me her story. I pointed her to this site
http://www.migraine.org.uk/section.aspx?sid=3
and now she has a diagnosis.
This is what the site has to say;
"Less than 2% of the population have never had a headache. For most people, a headache occurs occasionally and can be speedily resolved with something to eat, a short rest or a couple of painkillers.
Migraine is a great deal more than just a headache; it is the most common neurological condition in the developed world. It affects over 15% of the UK population and is more prevalent than diabetes, epilepsy and asthma combined.
Attacks can be completely disabling, forcing the sufferer to abandon everyday activities for up to 3 days. Even in symptom-free periods, sufferers may live in fear of the next attack"
I shall try not to soapbox this issue!
