Let's start the day with a cheery news item...
"Diabetics can face a five times increase in the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) than non-diabetics..... This leads to a seven to ten year reduction in life expectancy and a higher probability of suffering a fatal heart attack."

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) marks World Diabetes Day on 14 November 2010 by emphasising the simple measures that diabetes patients should adopt to slow-down the progression of CVD and greatly improve their quality of life.

But sadly doesn't offer any practical advice in this item.

It goes on to shock even more though...

"The urgency of addressing this issue is highlighted by forecasts of 330 million diabetes cases worldwide by 2050. This figure represents a staggering 3% of the predicted global population".

Yargh! Nice to know we are not alone! 8)

Addendum while doing more of the news...
"Dementia accounts for approximately 15 per cent of all deaths in England according to a report published by the National End of Life Care Intelligence Network (NEoLCIN)."
