Do you think these may have been diabetes related?

Hi, my 9yr old daughter was diagnosed with T1 last yr. since birth she was plagued with chronic constipation and itching of the skin. She would scratch her legs and arms and chest until she drew blood. The constipation left her in very very bad form and in pain. Since being diagnosed and treated her skin is noticeably less itchy and the drinking of more water seems to be helping her constipation. Anybody else experience these or has she just been unlucky? There is no question she's been unlucky but as to the symptoms. I have heard of tingling/itching/numbness so that could have been to do with diabetes.

I have not heard of constipation but I wouldn't rule it out either since diabetes can cause damage to any organ. I know that feet and eyes are often quoted as being most at risk but other organs may well have been damaged quite early on also.
