Hi can anyone explain what an MJ is? I am type 1 diabetic with stage4/5 kidney disease and being considered for a kidney & pancreas transplant. I saw the transplant surgical team and in a follow up letter it states that he "cautioned me that I may well need an MJ at the time of transplantation and an NJ insertion at the time of operation". I understand about the Nasojejunal (NJ) tube but I don't remember anything about an MJ being mention?. My GFR is at 13% and my urea is at 15. Does anybody on here know if there a certain level when dialysis start? It is something that has never been discussed. I know there are no set rules and everyone is different but my consultant is not the most understanding or informative. Any info would be greatly welcomed.
