Hi all

just a quick silly question really over the pas few days i have had a about 4 hypos one day it was 2 in one day where my sugar levels dropped to 1.8 i had no awareness either. But ever since the hypos i have felt really tired and nauseaous, i'm able to eat and drink as normal but it comes and goes i find after i have eaten i feel horrible for a couple of hours then when it comes to lunch or dinner i am starving hungry. Its a funny feeling it feels abit like motion sickness. Was just wondering if hypos can cause the body to feel like this, i have felt like this before but never really thought much of it.

Hi Tracey167, sorry I can't help you as I've very little knowledge about type 1, but I would go and see you doctor and get them to check you over. If you get no answer from them and still don't feel any better then a visit to hospital would be in order. Having hypos and no awareness puts you in danger.

Hi Ann thanks for your reply, yes i think i will visit my doctor if it keeps happening, thankfully the nausea seems to be going, i have a appointment with mt diabetic consultants within the next couple of weeks so i will ask him about it , he knows that i have no awareness and at present trying to resolve the reasons why i am having frequent hypos even though i am carb counting all my meals, i have come to the conclusion that i must be insulin sensitive or something cos whatever i try i.e lower my levemir (long acting insulin) and even give a little less humalog at some meal times im ok for a couple of weeks then the blood sugars start dropping again causing hypos. Thankfully my husband can see in my eyes that my sugars are dropping and can rectify it before it gets worse (his a life saver) He has had to become my full time carer due to this.

I hope you get some answers from your consultant, life must be very difficult living with the constant threat of hypos and no warning. Your hubby is a gem! Please let us know if you get any answers.

Hi Ann yes it is a pain not having no awareness, i have done blood sugar tests not feeling any different to normal and its come up as low as 1.9 its only that hubby notices a sparkle in my eye and a change in my voice sometimes that he makes me do a sugar test and 9 times out of 10 his always right and there's me trying to tell him i'm fine cos i feel o.k. I don't think doctors can do anything about it now i've been type 1 for nearly 28 years and apparently this can happen when you have had it for a long time, i've tried keeping my sugar levels high for 6 weeks but apart from making me feel dreadful it did'nt make any difference.
Also still not feeling great this nausea keeps coming and going haven't got a clue what it is i think its just one of those things, i must admit i have felt like this before but this is the longest it has lasted before i felt fine after a couple of days , this time its been 5 days on and off.
