I was just getting used to my new diet and I like the series Hungry Sailors, so I'm watching it, though I saw it originally.

Love their characters, love the scenery, love the whole programme, but watching it this time round just brought home to me that I am now very much restricted in what meals I can have, and I miss being normal.

What's normal?

When nature moves the goalposts, we just have to find different things to eat or adapt old favourites. If there is anything in particular you miss, I am sure someone will know a healthier version of it

PS...I watch the Food Network channel quite a lot. There is almost nothing I can eat on those programmes lol, but I still enjoy them as I like watching people who are passionate about their jobs and who love their grub.

Normal = eating anything you like with no adverse effects. ( my interpretation)

I've tried many examples of "healthier versions" posted on here and I haven't liked Any of them, sorry, just being honest. xx

I used to watch it too and bought 2 Ellie Krieger books, I liked her. I loved Guy in Diners, Drive ins and Dives, oh the food that is available, seemingly on every street corner in the U S is unbelievable. Can't do with Barefoot Contessa?? Probably jealousy!! xx

You are just fussy, lol! My nan would have said, 'you wouldn't have lasted the war eating like that'
I am particular what I put in my mouth, and if my mouth doesn't agree with these dieticians, I will find something that will!

I'm fussy too,

No dairy, no cooked greens etc!

Welcome Pursang, I've just eaten a dill pickle, I eat them when I need to eat something, so I'm drawn to responding to your post.

I'm not sure this is the right thread for you to be on if you're expecting help and advice, this is just a light hearted one I started regarding the Strawbridges programme that was on tv earlier.

You need to press on the Forums tab and scroll down 'till you find the topics. You could use the new one, hello one, pre diabetic or any really, and you will be helped. Fantastic site, helpful people, good for a giggle too sometimes.

You are cordially invited to post on my thread Happy Litha, and are welcome to bring your plate to our virtual picnic. Just find the thread and tell us what you'd like to eat on your plate, (or pinch off someone else's plate). That will give us an idea of where you maybe going a bit wrong with your current diet.

Welcome Pursang. xx

Hi and welcome to the forum @Pursang .
Your post will get lost in this thread.

Go to the Greeting and Introduction board and you will see a green oblong at the top of the page on the R hand side. It says, Post a New Thread.
Click on that and you can start a post and introduce yourself.

Don't apologise lunarlinda, I'm 100% with you there. I've a very hard time eating at the best of times, and trying to get recommended, quality, healthy and nutritional food down my gullet is a nightmare.
In actual fact at times I've to resort to some tea biscuits with a pint of cold water to fill my tummy when I'm very hungry through lack of food but unable to eat.

It's a nightmare , so if anyone's blessed with the ability to swallow recommended Diabetic healthy eating habits, be very, very grateful.
I say that in the best possible taste, as Grayson Perry would say.

Me better half, on the other hand, can eat anything that's put in front of her.............I'm sooooo envious.

Oh poor you Willie. It's the proverbial catch 22 dilemma isn't it. You're weak 'cos you haven't eaten, but you can't eat anything because you don't fancy owt, or feel you can't stomach owt. I sympathise chuck. xx
