Thanks Ally1.
I've been on metformin for about 18 months now but they don't seem to go away.
Metformin is helping me, no side effects apart from the weird lifelike dreams.
As already discussed, metformin can result in sleep disturbance, and this might affect normal dream patterns. Nightmares are reported in patients receiving metformin.[7] However, they are less frequent than insomnia.[8] Indeed, the cerebral blood glucose is known for its relationship to dreaming[9,10] and the change of its level after intake of metformin might be the underlying pathogenesis of nightmares.
Thank you very much for that. I found that most interesting.
I'm glad to say I haven't had any nightmares but the dreams are so lifelike, I think I'm actually in the dream as appose to watching it. If you know what I mean. )
Glad to say I haven't done any sleep walking, well not as far as I know!
Thank you once again. Much appreciated.
@Brunneria starte a thread perchance to dream, whet she and others tell of their dreams.
Personally I have always had vivid dreams or really weird dreams! And yes they can be frightening though I didn't have nightmares.
I put the frequency of mine down to fluctuating blood sugar levels.
I have had déjà vu as well!
Maybe I'm just weird!
Nor me! The only thing that I've noticed recently is that I'm now occasionally dreaming about my diabetes.
Nor did I know that it could affect sleep patterns either, I sleep badly too, and often at odd hours but this has been going on far longer than I've had diabetes and been on metformin.
