I just finished my visual field test with Specsavers for the DVLA. I feel it went ok. I did miss a few lights. Does anyone know how long before the DLVA makes a decision.

I think you are allowed a couple of misses. I have field and number plate tests annually. If you have failed they will be in touch very quickly. Like Tuesday. If you've passed likely to be longer so generally no news is good news. Best of luck.

I missed a couple on my last test @Jimmy37, difficult to say how long you will wait given the time of year but good luck anyway.

I think I may have missed the lights flashing right at the bottom on a few occasions. I did see the lights centrally and to my right and left quite well. I really do not know how the DVLA will view my results. So now I am worried. I think someone stated that if I failed they will let me know by Tuesday, it feels like I am on death row waiting for the end

The trouble is the Optician conducting the field test aren't allowed to comment on the results, if you've just done the test then hearing on Tuesday may be too optimistic, but you should hear in the next 4 weeks, if not chase it up by ringing the DVLA, I had to do this when I last renewed my licence as there was a delay, I was told it was due to them carrying out medical checks but I found the call handler to be extremely helpful.

Again good luck

The test was not to renew my licence. I passed my test in February 2015 and was given a 3 year licence. In March I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy. I had 3 sessions of laser treatment in September and was told by the doctor that I have to inform the DVLA. I am guessing they will have the results on Tuesday and make a decision soon after that. If I am not fit to drive they would not want me on the road for a long period. This wait is really depressing me.

Letters from the DVLA are sent out .
Giving 9-12 weeks time of decision making usually .

Some persons get these letters after their sight tests .
Others need further investigation(s) carried out .
Others are informed after tests or GP/Specialists letter replies .

It really can and does vary with each person .
The sheer volume of medical cases looked into individual cases
can cause longer delays timescale wise .

Certain medical conditions do have to be declared to the DVLA .
I know both diabetes (insulin dependent) and ataxia do have
to be declared .
