Other sellers do seem to sell strips in quantity, so I presume they get them wholesale.
When you don't get them prescribed or don't get enough prescribed and are on a tight budget, then needs must and you get them from ebay.
I tend to pay between £10 and £12 for 50 One Touch Ultra strips.
I entered the competition for a Bayer Contour on this site and got a meter, along with a letter telling me I didn't win, but here's one anyway .... It included 25 strips, so that's 25 I won't have to buy!

I know my GP won't prescribe me as many as I want. The ones I have bought are all originals and not fakes. You can look at the profile of sellers and see that they sell quite a lot of strips and they can't possibly be selling their excess that they get free on prescription.

Really? Have you ever heard any report of fake strips? The strips for every machine that I have ever seen are sophisticated. If some "fake strip" manufacturer were to go to all the expense of tooling up, the counterfeits that they'd produce would be instantly detectable, because they'd never work when you stuck them into the machine. With "seller disputes", negative ratings and no repeat business, how would anyone ever justify the production costs?
I suppose that it is (just about) conceivable that the ebay strips might be from a "defective" batch, but unless you have any evidence, then this is just idle speculation.

Oh well that's different then, if it's in an Indian Local Newspaper it must be true...
If I google "fake squirrel testicles" it comes back with 3.3million hits. Haven't seen many of those on ebay either.
Global US healthcare firm Johnson and Johnson (J&J) has found more fake versions of its diabetes test strips in India, it has emerged. The company has been investigating these fake products for some time in a bid to stop their being made and sold illegally.
Police in India have already arrested three men in the New Delhi area in connection with the counterfeit products, which have been manufactured to look like J&J’s OneTouch Ultra blood glucose test strips, although they are missing certain features, including the OneTouch trademark printed on the strips.
It is thought the counterfeit strips are made in China and then put into false packaging in India; the company has already uncovered fake strips in the US, seizing thousands of the strips while working with law enforcement agencies there and around the world to bring criminal convictions against those involved.
