EPQ: Cures for Diabetes

Hi,
I'm doing a EPQ project on the possible cures for diabetes and how close we are from the cures being available for everyone. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for cures that could become realistic in the near future and your take on any cures that are currently in the research stage of development
