Hello!

I went for my diabetic check up a couple of weeks ago, where the nurse told me my sugars were high (they're normally well controlled), my blood pressure was high again (I do tend to struggle with it and was already on 10mg Rampril and 5mg amplodimine). My medication was upped for both. My cholesterol was also 7.4 and I'm now on statins. She then told me they had detected some liver damage and that she had booked me straight in with the doctor.

The appointment with the doctor was kind of a blur and I struggled to take anything in really. She said that it was fatty liver and that the liver was inflamed and mentioned hepatitis. She said usually they check on it in 3 months but as I was 'in the middle', whatever that means, she booked me in for further blood tests in 3 weeks - I'm due to go Monday 15 Feb.

So as I'm sure you can imagine I've been quite worried over the last couple of weeks! What can I expect if there's no improvement etc next week?!

I have MODY. I'm 25, 5'0, and weigh 8st12. Don't drink very much at all and have never smoked. Try to exercise and eat as healthy as possible.

Also since about August, I've been suffering from extreme fatigue and muscle and joint pain - in October my doctor said she thinks it could be fibromyalgia and would refer me to a specialist - now Feb and still waiting - but do you think it's possible it's related to the above at all? I will of course bring it all up when I go on Monday - but in the meantime it's niggling at me interested in others experiences!

Hope that makes sense!

Hello. There is not much you can do other than change your diet and lifestyle to defatify your liver. Can you tell us what you are currently eating? Also some drugs can cause fatty liver. Are you taking any that could cause this.

Emma, You should not be on certain statins and amlodipine, the combination is contraindicated. regards Derek
