Fear Of Coming Off Thyroid Medication

I have been taking minute doses of Levothyoxine and Carbimaxole since August 2015 for an hyperactive thyroid. Last spring my thyroid hormones returned to normal levels. For the last year I have been kept on the same medication to enforce the drugs' efficacy. The time is up and I am supposed to stop the medication now!

However I am reluctant to come off it as there is a probability that the condition will return. It does in most people and of course the drugs are preventing this..

Have you had antibodies tested? If they are normal you can try and come off meds.

Of course - several times. If I stop medication then the problems could well start again which I don't want!

Yes, there is chance it comes back but if you have had several normal TRAB tests I'd say give it a try and come off meds.
