Fingers numb and tingling

You should most definitely ask about this as it could be down to many things, some not Diabetes related.

I presume your Specialist is an Endocrinologist and will have knowledge and experience of many things, not just Diabetes. If he doesn't know he is the perfect person who can get you referred to the appropriate speciality.

I get a similar thing but that is totally due to an old neck injury affecting the nerves, however nerve problems can also be due to Diabetes. All the more reason to mention it.

If I have been over doing it on my laptop I can get spasm, tingling and numbness in my hands and fingers, also a B12 deficiency can give these symptoms which is another thing I have to deal with by taking supplements.

I had similar problems to you; but in my case it affected my feet too.

In my case it is neuropathy, which is now well under control due to a supplement I've been taking for several months now called Benfotiamine. This is basically a vitamin supplement giving you huge doses of B12 plus something called Thiamine. I order these online from USA and it costs me around £10pm.

I'm sure I've read on this forum previously that there is an NHS equivalent that you can get on prescription, but when I asked my GP refused to prescribe it for me. They seemed happy enough for me to keep taking Benfotiamine and the nurse actually commented that it could also help avoid dementia (or some similar brain disease). Think that was the Thiamine content she was referring to though.

I still get a very slight numbness/tingling on the tips of my left pinkie and ring finger, but nowhwere near as bad as it used to be.........thank goodness.
