Fingertip Bruising

Hiya, I've recently got a bg monitor and I'm a big sissy when it comes to hurting myself and my body does not like to give my blood up. The monitor is the accu-chek mobile and I find that I am getting bruises on the areas where I'm testing. When I first click the stabbing machine I get no blood at all and then I have to shake my hand and push/stroke down the finger from the base to the tip to get the blood out of me.

Have any of you experienced testers have any tips for getting the blood out without the bruising?

wash your hands in warm water first it always makes it easier for me to get the blood out.
also make sure you use the side of your finger and not the pad as that is very painful.

Hiya, if no blood comes out after lancet going in, just relax and hold hand DOWNWARDS for a few seconds to let blood flow get to the fingertips then gently n firmly express the droplet of blood till you see it appear, only a little droplet is needed. If you're bruising you may have your lancet speed set too high. Some peoples skin is softer than others so set lancet speed lower. Hope this helps? Anna.x :D

I use an adjustable depth lancet and find that I need to set it at 3. If I leave it at, say, 2, it doesn't go deep enough and I have the difficulties you describe gettting blood out. AS above, washing immediately beforehand with hot water makes all the difference. I use the side of my pinkie mostly.

It took me a week or two to get used to it but its very routine now. I'm sure you'll find a way that works best for you too.

My fingers also bruise. I think this is because I take a daily aspirin (prescribed). I too use my pinkie as it doesn't hurt and bleeds the best.
