I am pre diabetic and take no medication. In one week I am having my 2nd colonoscopy. First colonoscopy was 10 years ago. Which foods I can eat before colonoscopy without raising BG too much, and whether it's okay to eat before the procedure. Thanks in advance for the HD help. Omar

My hubby has had a good few of these in the last couple of years, he usually gets a detailed sheet with what to eat and when, have you had anything like this from the department doing your procedure? If not I would contact them. Sometimes his pre diet has been stricter and more restrictive than others so wouldn’t like to say what he was advised to do.

This may be one of those times when your diabetes has to take a back seat and the procedure prep to take precedence, it’s only for a very short while, usually 24hrs so doing what you need to do won’t have much if any affect on your diabetes

Hi @Omar51

I was instructed not to eat for 48 hours before mine, and to take a number of "clear-out" pills, which worked very effectively.

If they offer you any pain relief in advance, my advice would be to take it, as much as you can get.

I do have a list which I am following carefully. I like the idea of for 48 hrs let diabetes take the back seat. Thanks a lot for the help.

Hi@KennyA

My instructions are for seven days before the procedure, indeed I will follow that. My diabetic lifestyle is strict. I just have to adjust for 48 hrs and then get back on track. Thanks a lot for the help.

I have had 3 colonoscopies and each time I have followed the recommended diet for the procedure and sorted my T2 out afterwards. My BG readings weren't as disrupted ad I though they would be.

Veteran of 2 colonoscopies and supported OH through 2. The prep is quite critical, if your bowel is not empty and clear then they will not do the procedure. We both had to take some tablets and then make up and drink a liquid laxative. We have a 2 hour journey to the clinic, so being near a toilet was our main concern.
Also we were told to arrange for someone to take you home afterward, in case they use sedatives, which render you unfit to drive yourself.
good luck, hope all goes well for you.
