Hi, Absolutely fed up with same few meals as everything I find is not good for diabetes.
get told no white rice, no pastry, no white bread, no chips, no sausages, no mashed potatoe, and the list goes on.
Tesco seem to make meals that are aimed at all but us diabetics. Any trad meals meat and two veg are discontinued,
was loving hunters chicken, discontinued.
Friend says try Chicken Biryani, his mum is Diabetic, it is not overly hot or spicy.
I google it and its pilau rice, google that and its not good for type 2.
hells bells.
Tesco dont use brown rice, their meals are mostly continental now, rice this rice that.
I was enjoying discovering curry meals after a lifetime of not such, trad dad no foreign stuff.
on holiday we had to walk past continental restaurants ! uncle same.
but buying microwave meals curry has white rice, or yellow rice.
Tesco simply wont do brown rice, and I shop online and have groceries delivered.
I do not do pots and pans cooking, can't stand up for long, no extraction hood, kitchen is hades in summer, cant stand humidity, no windows to outside world. kitchen door opens on 42deg C plastic covered walkway. havent time to mess about cooking, hate cooking. no time for it, no where for the pots and pans when washing up, tons of work to do. no chance to keep going up and down stairs keeping an eye on kitchen, its meal time, often well late, 11pm etc, and its got to be made and on plate in 10 mins. microwave meals.

I give up. **** Tesco. says on vans working with diabetes.co.uk NO THEY ARE NOT THEY KEEP REMOVING FOOD I FOUND WAS OK FOR TYPE 2.
Their choices are not designed for Type 2, decided on if public buy it. Just got rid of Cheese and ham pies, I had discovered those this last few months, makes a change from two slices of chicken and two of ham on a plate with some cheese. They eat better in Prison. can't have mushrooms, many chicken meals with same. Allergic to sea food crab etc. hate greens, never ever eat salads. must have been T Rex in previous life ! Mum said we tried feeding you when a baby and you spat it out, we gave up.
Best food of the day, the ice cream after eve meal !

so what continental no peppers meals can I have, as Tesco will have done away with all non continental in a years time.

Hi @Dave008. Ah yes! I totally understand your predicament and feel for you. You have a predicament for sure, if you intend to eat 'diabetes friendly' food, with no functioning kitchen even if you could get over your hatred for cooking, and you're a man who knows what he likes and dislikes (which I would say - I don't know anyone who isn't like that :D , and more so as everyone I mix a lot with is, ah, getting to a certain age group).

The simple answer for you, re the microwaveable/ready to eat food is look for the words 'low carb' or even better 'keto' on the description or label, and for the search online.

You might need to get it delivered in easy to organise/refigerate/freeze form? But that would suit you I think? And in the supermarket - get used to reading nutrition labels, and learn how to interpret them for the carb content. The good side (and there is a good side) is that when you lower your carbs, you can healthily raise your healthy fat content, so can stock up on butter on cheese, and low carb/keto bread and baked goods for you to snack on. You like ham and cheese - so that's a goodie to begin with. There are even some gorgeous low-carb chutneys and jams out there now, so as long as you are also spreading them on low carb and keto baked goods (wraps, tortillas as well as low-carb breads) they shouldn't raise your blood glucose much or even at all if you are lucky.

And as you are getting to know these new fangled ready-made foods - come in here and tell us how you are finding it!

its got to be made and on plate in 10 mins. microwave meals.
Would using a frying pan be acceptable for you?
A steak, bacon and eggs a couple of burger patties, or chicken livers and onion takes less than 10 minutes, almost as quick as the microwave. They sell pre-chopped onion, ready to throw in the pan.

If you want veggies, they sell frozen veggies that can be put straight in the microwave or be added to a pan of minced meat.

There are also various companies that do keto ready meals now and deliver.
May be worth doing a Google search on this.

Good luck!

Hi
Frying pan, no, means standing up (fractured vertebra sees a clock ticking on stand up time) and over the heat coming up from it, facial sauna. I place something in oven and ****** off !
Has anyone found a Tesco meal with chicken and mild curry and edible rice for us ?
Just what meals can I look for, from Tescos. need some names please.

Cheers

Hi @Dave008 , have you looked at tinned curries in Tesco, there are several. Just tip in a bowl and microwave. I never use rice of any colour these days, I use cauliflower rice. You could buy it ready chopped and again heat in the microwave. Here’s a couple of screen shots of the products I’ve talked about.
