Hello

I have had frozen shoulder for a year now, and also carpal tunnel syndrome.

I think my shoulder has reached frozen stage (it certainly feels frozen on the outside edge but I still have quite a bit of pain just over the top/back of my shoulder. Is this normal please?

I also have terrible pain in my upper arm. It feels like a pulled muscle and is very stiff on a morning. It gradually works loose with normal movement but is very sore. Is this part of the frozen shoulder syndrome please?

Have had enough of this carpal tunnel syndrome and am going to have it operated on at the beginning of next month :D

Hi Mrs P,
I don't have a frozen shoulder but I do have CTS, and I am experiencing muscle pain in the upper arm. I started a thread on CTS and mentioned the upper muscle pain, I'm hoping to get a response on that.Just keep an eye on the forum and you may get some info. I presume you are diabetic :?: because I was thinking about neuropathy and whether that could play a part.

Regards
Graham

Hi Graham and thanks for the info

Yes I'm diabetic type2. I'm not quite sure about neuropathy but the upper arm pain started only in the last few months. I had a minor stroke 4 yrs ago - that could be connected but with the time factor, Im thinking its more likely to be the FS.

I'm not sure what CTS is?

Hi mrsp. i had frozen shoulder about 4 years ago.I was getting pain in my upper arm then after months couldnt lift my arm up to even wash my back hang washing up etc.kept going to doctors he said it was arthritis first i thought i had broke my arm the pain was so bad and no-one was taking any notice of me.My arm could not move past shoulder level it was just stiff and the pain unbearable i couldnt sleep or hardly do anything. It took nearly a year before the doctor finally said it was a frozen shoulder i went in hospital for an operation it was still the same for about two weeks but then the pain just disappeared and ive never had it since!!Hope yours goes better.By the way i am type 1 and have been for 38 years so of course they all said in the medical profession (its because your diabetic)!!which is the answer to everything. All of the other patients in my ward were not diabetics and they had frozen shoulder!!

Hi sugarybibs, thanks for writing back.

I do have FS but I just wondered if the upper arm pain is a factor of that. I reckon my shoulder is frozen now although I do still have some pain over the back of my shoulder yet.

I know what you mean about UK Drs and blaming diabetes!. I am privileged to be living in France at the mo where the health care seems much better (now where did I put my french dictionary - *sigh*)

Hi Mrs P. I too have a frozen shoulder, wrote about it on here and got lots of helpful posts. I have had it since April. The shoulder does not hurt so much now but the pain in my arm is very similar to yours. I wake up with it and it is very stiff. As the day progresses the pain lessens as long as I do not forget to restrict my movements. I liken it to a bird with a broken wing!! Am waiting to see a specialist. It is an eight week wait here so I've got about five weeks to wait before I get my appointment.
Regards, cheub.

Ah yes, a bird with a broken wing. I like that, and that is definitely what it is like catherine. I will keep everyone informed and look forward to everyone elses progress.

When they told us we were diabetic they never told us all the other stuff we would be prone to did they bless 'em
