Hello all,
I'm a type 2 diabetic (12 yrs) and was on metformin. Following a very traumatic event in March 2020, (not Covid 19 related), I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis in the summer of 2021.
I've been following a low carb & low fibre diet, however, I'm still experiencing on going abdominal bloating, burping & pain. Sometimes palpitations. While these symptoms are present I also have pins & needles in my toes & feet and lower leg cramp like tightenings & pain. It seems that as long as there's food in my stomach the symptoms present themselves in varying degrees of severity. My sleep is massively affected.
Has anyone experienced any of these symptoms & how do they manage them?
I've been under the care of the Gastro team. My consultant has a gastro/neurological specialist interest. The last consultation was in Feb 2024. The next available appointment is June 2025. I've had consultations & nutritional advice from the diabetes nurse specialist & the gastroparesis nurse specialist.
I was wondering if a neuro/diabetes specialist consultant exists? Are there any hospitals in the London area or further afield with a specialist department focusing on these conditions?
I'm having ongoing discussions with my GP.
Any advice & thoughts will be very much appreciated.
