I had less than four hours of sleeping time last night and my BG level shot up from previous days 6 to 7.7 when I checked this morning.
Could somebody establish a link between sleeping hours and glucose level
Thanks

Maybe the body is reacting to the sleep deprivation by releasing more stress hormones? Noticed myself on days I only get 3-4 hours sleep that right in the morning I wake I might still be at 4-4.5 when measuring while still in bed. But within just 30-60 minutes after, when starting to shower/move around, then my bg can have shot up to 7-8. And that without having eating anything yet.

I generally get higher levels if I sleep past an early waking time.

It's worth reading up on the "dawn phenomenon" or "liver dump" - your liver can often offer a helping hand by dumping some glucose into your body to give you some fuel to start the day. Search the forum too, as there's many threads/discussions about this.

I'm having the reverse of this.

I'm having to cover an early shift this week which I very rarely do. :(

Getting up at 3.30 after no more than 5 1/2 hours in bed I have been 5.3 every day, whilst I was in the 6's all last week getting up at 7-7.30 after 8 hours plus sleep.

My "normal" pre meal measurement averages 5.5 most of the time BTW
