glucose levels advice

Ok that's good to know. How do I work my average out ? Should I average per day ?

Sorry I obviously don't have a clue. I'm new to everything and new to the lower carb diet.
Your meter may possibly give you an average over 7,14 or 30 days - mine does but it took me about 8 months to discover it. There's something to be said for " read the destructions." !!
I like to have as much info as possible so keep a running average of pre and post breakfast, lunch, dinner and before bed readings and an overall average. I can see from my results that lunch results in a lower average than other meals and that for all meals my general trend is becoming lower.
Another thing I do is to record BG results that meet NICE guidelines in a different colour and this gives me an at a glance indication of progress.
Keeping running averages every day on paper would be a bit laborious, but you could do it say once a week, take a note of that week's result and then progressively add and average more weeks.
To calculate an average just add all the results and then divide by the number of results. For example :
7.5+6.9+8.0+7.0 = 29.4 Divide this by 4 (the number of results) and the average = 7.35

My 'lazy way.' (The column on the far right is an overall average of all daily averages)

Wonderful thank you so much

I'll give you a target! Aim to join The Five Percent Club. This is the old measurement of HbA1c, which translates to Less than 42mmol/mol in the new system - rather less catchy, I'm sure you will agree. This is, of course, "normal".
By the way, I think your low carb lunch was excellent.
Sally

ps The 5% Club was something much talked about on this site, http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/

On the link I had a browse and found that the 1 hour post meal is better than 2 hour is that true ? They say to keep it under 7.7 at 1 hour

Just a note, as a type 2, cashews are not the greatest nut to eat, they have 30g carbs/100g nuts.. Try walnuts or brazil nuts instead.
Agree cashews have a sweetness about them, Almonds are my nut of choice! as walnuts and brazils have more of a bitter taste to me.
