Going out with friends - do I take a couple of units when home after a beer or two?

Not sure what to do. Do I take a couple (2 Humalog units per pint) once home and before bed?
As a rule, no.
It might be you'll find you need insulin for your beer, but if you take it way after drinking, so when you get home, you'll run a high risk of going hypo in a couple of hours.

If you need to inject for your beer you need to do it like you do with food, so before, and not hours later.

The alcohol by itself might make your blood glucose drop through the night, adding a late dose of insulin to that sounds risky to me.

Is this a situation you're in right now? If so, how high is your blood glucose?

Hi, you shouldn't take any insulin for alcohol, my specialist diabetic nurse reiterated this during some training in the last couple of months.
Enjoy your evening

It's a question that I've wondered about as and when the situation arises. Many thanks.

I just noticed you've had T1 for 34 years. Out of curiosity, how did you deal with a night out before?
