I have to share this as I owe it all to this forum and the inspirational people here - 12 months ago I discovered this place and learned about a low carb diet shortly after having gone low fat as a consequence of gall stones.
Anyways 12 months of discipline of a maximum of 100g of carbs a day and a rigid diet which involves test, test and test again mentality, I received my results from my latest check today and have now got down to 37mmol having peaked at 66mmol in November 2012. I am still on a drug regime of 80mg gliclazde, sitagliptin and 2000mg of metformin but that is the lowest intake of drugs for me for 17 years with this condition.
The lesson for me and the gratitude I have for this place is that low carb and discipline works - believe and don't give up - I have also lost 2 stone into the bargain and am now 759 days without fags! me feeling very chuffed at the moment!!
