hba1c - take tablets or not

I am having my hba1c in the morning. Am fasting as usual before it - grrrrr. I have never known however if I should take my metformin as normal when I get up. I usually don't because taking metformin without food aggravates the well-known side-effects but does anyone have any views whether I should or not; does it make a difference given the test should show the 90 day average?

Take MF with or after food - not if you are fasting.

Are you having lipid profile done too? Hba1c alone doesn't require fasting. They do
