I just got my results for my second test and my hands are shaking - I didn't know if I should laugh or cry - so I did both.
Hba1c 47
fasting blood glucose 6.4 mmol/l
Cholesterol 5.7
HDL 1.42
LDL 3.4
Triglyceride 2

That is in 80 days of eating low carb.
Congratulations. Did you just eat all low carb or have the odd sneaky treat ?. I’m just starting the path of trying to lower mine. But it seems like it’s all boring foods or vegetarian. I don’t mind having to follow a certain path, but don’t want it to rule my life as well. Otherwise what’s the point.

Hi @Ja5sonC - welcome to the forum, and while @Resurgam is an active member, please be aware that this is very old thread, you may want to start off in the introductions section?

For what it's worth - while lowering carbs does inevitably mean restricting some foods that will cause issues, there is a flip side to it, that means that other foods can come back on the menu; I'm about to go cook my daily breakfast of cheesy egg soufflé with bacon and avocado, and some clotted cream and dark chocolate - it's doesn't have to be boring..

I'm not sure what types of foods you like, but all meat/fish and most animal products like cheese, butter, cream, eggs are no or very low carb, so by all means feast on bacon and eggs if you like them.
Here's a thread where we share what we've eaten, very useful for inspiration on low carb meals: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today-low-carb-forum.75781/page-3227

Just be careful, from your profile I take it that you're on insulin, and if you suddenly cut out a lot of carbs chances are you'll go too low. Test a lot if you change your eating habits!

My odd sneaky treat would be steak, onion and mushrooms followed by berries in sugar free jelly, with real custard or cream.
NB I am diet only - no danger of hypos from medication.
Low carb doesn't rule my life - it is what I will eat from now on.
I have lost a load of weight, been in remission for 8 years, regained strength gone back to work and go out with the morris dancers. I get up to dance up the sun on the first of May - that is if I went to bed at all.
The point is to be alive and well and up to a bit of mild mischief.
Low carb is far easier being decidedly carnivore.

HbA1C 47? Mine's 7.1. Obviously different scales. What is 47? Mg/Dl? Or what...?

This is the most useful convertor I've found. It's not only that the US and UK use different units for HbA1c - but also for spot check results - this shows all four at once, so you can get something useful and comparable quickly.
I generally leave a tab with this open on my phone permanently.

Funnily enough, you don't specify your own units @Lionel12 - but 47 mmol/mol (standard for UK HbA1c) is 6.5% - but if you are quoting mmol/L - (usually the UK spot measurement result) - that would be equivalent to 7.69mmol/L
