"Hello everyone" from a doctor with early Type 2 diabetes

I am nearing 80 and am a GP. discovered 1AC just above normal levels, with family history of Type 2 diabetes...bought home testing kit the same day and gave away all lollies in the house ! Hopefully these are probably the cause of the high 1AC....and with the home testing I have found that I still have plenty of insulin around as can get a low Blood sugar after eating only starches for breakfast....Am also a Coeliac which means most of my fibre is soluble and of higher GI.....an addiction to sugar and weight about 5Kg above normal does not help ( BMI 27 )...life-long member of Weight Watchers lol

there is alot of info on the forum so i would definately have a good read, as much as i wished you werent type 2 now, this could be a benefit to your patients once you learn more about it, in my experience some Gp`s could do with an education regards db

Goodness working as a GP at 78 .....I really thought there was a cut off point ..., you sound like you have lots of energey....how do you manage that ...that is great though ..tc ..Kat
