Hi all, I've been looking around the forum for a while now and thought that I should finally post something up so here goes...
I was diagnosed type 2 mid December last year (I was rushed into hospital twice in 24 hours , the cause of which was never found but diabetes was) and have since learned that the diet suggested by the NHS dietitian will make you feel very ill, your doctor will tell you that you have "brought this on yourself with your diet" (dont remember her coming round for dinner) and that some "friends" will treat you like a leper
That aside I'm on 3 x 500 metformin a day and 40mg simvastatin and have managed to go from average readings of 15+ to between 5.2 and 6.8 and have managed to shed a steady 2lb's a week since diagnosis and give up smoking as well, and it hasn't been all hard work either since I started reading up on the subject here.
Next on the agenda is byetta starting the middle of this month (that kinda scares me a bit) which the diabetic nurse reckons will help me with the constant feeling of hunger that I have as well as helping to control my sugar levels ...
If your still reading then I owe you a minute of your life back, so sorry about the rambling and hello....
