Hi - new to all this

I don't really want to up my fats as I have high cholesterol, is this the only answer?
Hi izzie,
My Cholesterol was 5.7, I don't know what the breakdown was in the early stages, but after doing a LCHF diet and 1 statin a day, which I am considering stoppin within 4 months my cholesterol could not be better, see my signature below.

If you were to get Trudi Deakin's Book EAT FAT page 5 explains how eating fat will help all your cholesterol. http://www.xperthealth.org.uk/shop/details/p/handbook-lowcarb-highfat-lifestyle

I am amazed how well I feel to what I did before, and that I have energy and have lost weight.

Hi Izzie, often cholesterol normalises when on LCHF.

If you have been doing low fat for a long time it may take a while for your gall bladder to get into shape when you up the fat part of your diet. Also a damaged pancreas may protest but if this happens there are pancreatic enzymes you can take as a supplement.

You certainly have been given duff info about eating carbs as a diabetic.....nothing worst but carbs come in different forms even in veg. When next you see your nurse ask about the DESMOND type 2 management course.

Hi. Thanks for this, will be seeing the nurse in April and will ask her.

Thanks. Except I had my gall bladder removed as a gall stone resulted in my pancreatitis. I now take stations for the cholesterol. However, I'm feeling good today, the sun is shining and it's my wedding anniversary, so I'll take a day off from worrying.

My cholesterol was 9.5 but is now 5.6 so that's a good result, I think. I am told it is famial so I think I am always going to be on the statins, but hey! they are helping. I'll have a look for that book, it sounds really useful.
Thanks again.
