Hi,

I've been having a really good time managing my sugars up until a month ago. I assume this is what they meant by "You'll have to change your ratios and basal every so often." I've been trying really hard but it's very difficult.

I've come to ask why my sugars are spiking well after dinner. Lets take today for example. 101g rice, 9g veggies, 0g chicken. My I:C is 1:12.
As far as I've been taught, this is a good example of a plain, "no-delay" carb meal.
I started eating at 7:07 PM (6.1), went low at 7:57 PM (3.8) and corrected with a small amount of soda and was good for an hour (6.3 at 9 PM) but with a angled trending arrow. 9.1 at 9:40 PM and it finally stopped rising at 10:38 PM at 13.8. It spiked to 14.9 for less than 5 minutes as I already corrected when I got my high alarm at 9:40 PM.
I provided a picture below may that make it easier to look through.

What could've gone wrong here this time? What should I be looking at or monitoring closely to figure out what to change?
I'm fighting with my sugars since my settings have been overthrown. I went from having a nearly permanent 85% Time in Range to dipping near 50%. I used to have 2 time frames for my basal, now I have 5.

Thank you in advance.

@Gardevoir as you are finding out, timings and ratios for insulin vary throughout the day. Over time I discovered if I ate after 5pm and my sugars were in range or slightly below, insulin worked very quickly and I went low before the food hit. Consequently I now take the insulin after I’ve eaten and I wait to see a trend upwards. Another ruse can be splitting. Taking a starter amount and then the rest after eating. I certainly wouldn’t do that in the morning when I whack the whole lot in a good 30 minutes before.
Don’t lose heart, keep experimenting.

Thank you. I'll try splitting this evening and extending my bolus tomorrow evening to see how that goes. I did not consider making that a standard yet.
