We are going to Peru on holiday in three weeks. We will be visiting and staying at quite high altitudes, ranging from sea level to 4800 metres. Obviously I have been researching high altitude sickness and have some Diamox which was prescribed by my doctor. I have also read that a diet high in carbohydrates is important. I control my diabetes with exercise and diet , following a lowish intake of carbs. I just wondered if any of you have visited places as high as this and what you think about the recommended high carb diet. I shall take loads of test strips with me. As this is the first time we have ever undertaken a holiday like this any comments however great or small would be great. Many thanks.
