hi everyone

Doctor put me on an extra metformin tablet at lunch times, since that happned on last friday i have had two bouts of diarrhea in the last four days, should i be worried and go back to doctors or should i see if it settles down.

I have had loose movement on just two tablets a day but three tablets seem to have pushed that from loose movement to full blown bouts of diarrhea.

Hi MIchael,
Some people have reported that taking the Metformin half way through the meal helps. You can get a slow release version that people here seem to tolerate better. Ask your GP for this if things don't settle down.

Catherine.

Yeah, the slow release metformin (Glucophage SR) is the one to aim for. I changed over from the standard type and the difference was amazing.
