Hospital food the world over

Having had a brief stay on Weds/Thurs and I was appalled at the treatment, I had to ask for food at 9 pm after not eating since 7.30 am, they kept testing my ketones and blood but no one mentioned food until Thursday, where breakfast options were porridge, cornflakes/branflakes or toast, lunch was a roast chicken dinner with a load of roast potatoes, I declined the very sickly sweet puddings and the evening meal was the worst looking "yellow" salad ever, lettuce cucumber, cheese, potato salad and coleslaw.

It was awfully bland, not suitable for LCHF and whilst they knew I was diabetic, no care was given re diet or food at all. If I ever go in again, I'll send food parcel requests to family
 
I was in hospital for a couple of days before Xmas, breakfast was a nightmare for a low carber, all cereals and toast! I just ate from my stash of low carb stuff I took with me. Lunch and dinner there was always a plain omelette which I chose every time with salad or veggies, as the other choices were all carb ladened. For dessert the best of a bad lot was fruit yoghurt but you couldn’t choose the flavour so I had variable success with those. If I had been in for a longer stay I’d have asked to see a dietitian but fear that wouldn’t have been too successful :banghead:
