I had to go into hospital on Tuesday. I went to my GP with BM off the scale and keytones 2.9. I was also vomiting and new that I was in trouble. My GP phoned the University of North Durham(this is my closest hospital) and they said that as my diabetic care was at Newcastle that I had to go there, So he phoned the Freeman hospital and they said it would be three hours before I could see a doctor. So we then had to phone back the UoND and the GP had to insist that I went in.Has anyone else had this problem

You were in a bad way by the sounds of it. It is sensible to try to get you admitted to a hospital where there is a diabetes specialist unit, if at all possible. My guess is that the UoND hospital does not have such a unit, and Newcastle (is that Freeman?) does have one. But sometimes the hospital that would be best for you is full. Then you do have to go wherever has space to admit you.

Are you feeling better now? It sounds like it was possibly DKA, which is not very pleasant at all.
