How do you manage Children with Type 1 Diabetes Outside the Home?

I do not have diabetes
  1. When children visit a friend's house or go out, how do you typically manage them? Are there any ways to periodically check on their status in such situations? (Especially if the children are still not accustomed to managing their diabetes independently)
  2. Do you feel uncomfortable not being able to check the status of your child in real-time when you are far away from them (such as when they are at a friend's house or another location)?

Considering that the child is 6 years old and has just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 3 months ago.

    Thank you in advance

My parents just told my friends' parents not to treat me to food, but also not to take away my candy, but I was two years older than your child when I started having diabetes. It's probably terribly scary to let your child go, but you can start with a little time when nothing will happen to the child and gradually increase the time that he can be without you. In any case, you can give your child a phone (cheap phone, which is not a pity to break) and call him periodically
I have never tried to transfer my cgm data to another person, but as far as I know LibreLinkUp allows you to do this

I have no experience of this situation myself but one of the sites I look at “Let me be 83 “ on Facebook seems to be primarily parents of young children. You might find some sources of info and support there. I don’t have Facebook myself but that group is open to the public.
If your child has a CGM or it’s something you might want to consider, there is an option to have the data from it accessible to you too so you can monitor from afar. I believe Freestyle libre is suitable for children the age of yours. They do a free trail which is very useful.

Does the child wear a CGM? There are ways through a mobile phone to “follow” a vulnerable diabetic with the BGs possibly sharing with a carer..?

Now that’s not my forte. I manage my own. But, it can be possible to remotely supervise… providing the child has a a data connection with a mobile device tracking BGs in this fashion..?
