How many of you actually carry your monitors around with you?

Always take my meter with me. How else could I test if I felt unwell. No knowing for certain if it is a hypo or not although I have only ever had 3. As a driver I also need to test, if driving, at 2hourly intervals. Insulin with me only if I expect to be out all day and eating out for evening meal. Better safest.
 
Yep, always got a meter with me and something to sort a hypo although thus far only had a handful of lowish readings all of which I have felt as soon as they hit and sorted immediately.
 
so to sum it up then. Some have them with them all the time and some don't. I suppose at the end of the day, common sense prevails and taking it with you when away from the house for long periods of time is probably a good idea.

anna, watch the Jelly babies, could have gluten in them or from the factory that handles
gluten products
 
Type 1: all the time! You can never be too careful!

A few times I haven't felt exactly hypo, just a bit odd, tested and been <4.
 
Another T1 here and never without my meter, I've been known to drop quickly and easy enough to test on the hop so to speak.

Hiya Dibbles. can I take it then that you test before and after Brek, dinner and tea? couldn't you get away with just testing before Brek and say before tea? That way then if it was slightly high at teatime, you would be able to adjust what you ate for tea and have a fairly decent reading in the morning (before Brek reading).
 
Always have it on me if out as my post breakfast reading and lunch ones are usually while I am out. I also often drop low in the afternoon and like to confirm this with my meter for peace of mind ( otherwise my raging health anxiety starts up).
 


That's about it, nearly all insulin dependant diabetics wouldn't go away for the day without having the means to test, but for short walks as you mention earlier it depends on your own experience and comfort zone, I never ever go anywhere without carry glucose so feel pretty comfortable going out the house for a short period of time without a bg meter.

Seems like I need to get a handbag. never thought I'd see the day I said that. Street cred back to zero
 
Always carry meter, strips and insulin with me. And glucose tabs and usually a bottle of water. As I am an insulin user I also wear dog-tags stating I am diabetic and a medic alert card in my wallet.

Same here Eddie. I bought a "MED_IDENT dog tag but found there wasn't enough room on the back to inscribe all my medication so just had my lads phone number put on and the words "see card in phone cover". I printed out a credit sized card with all the medication on it and even included the logo. As and when I come off or get new meds added I can change the details on the card. I also laminated the card. This is then kept in the cover of my phone which is always with me.
