Just wondering how often you get formal bloods done (eg. Hba1c) and all of that and also which bloods do you get done?

My hospital consultant said I need to be monitored by my GP inbetween annual visits to the diabetes clinic. Is there any kind of time frame or guidance for how often you can get an Hba1c as a type 1?

cheers

I think that it's suggested that bloods are carried out on a 6 monthly bases, as with common to T2 diabetes.. Most diabetics see there consultant on a yearly bases,

I actually at the moment have 3 month appointments with my consultant due to starting the insulin pump, but hopefully after my next visit be extended to every 6 months.. On every visit my consultant give me my blood request forms, so that I can have my bloods taken at my surgery so he recieve the results before I see him...

Dislikes
soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I'm supposed to be on 6 monthly, but last summer they forgot!
so it will now be just my annual review, which is due in a few weeks.they do HbA1c, cholesterol and liver and kidney function.

I am not on a specific time scale but tends to turn out about every 3-4 months i get them done usually when i have my yearly appointment and just when i visit the diabetes centre at the local hospital, tend to do this instead of going to my GP i i have far more trust in the nurses as diabetes is there specialist thing and it is more convenient
