Hi.
With all that quick acting your blood sugar levels should have returned to normal so it does sound like you may have too much insulin in your system. I have no experience of using a pump so cannot comment but with having a newborn and a 2 year old you must be pretty busy and it will prob take some adjusting to get insulin right after pregnancy but it does sound like you need much less insulin overnight. I know after both my pregnancies i dropped down from the massive pregnancy doses to pre pregnancy insulin doses but still had to drop it further, and i know after my second pregnancy (i had 2 year old twins and a newborn) i would regularly go hypo in the night. If you are breastfeeding this will use more energy, and even getting up regualary during the night to feed and care for baby you will be using more energy. Speak to your team about reducing your insulin. And as hypo treament goes I have just done DAFNE and the recommended treatment is
if your meal is within next hour- 1.5-2 CP (15-20 g) quick acting carb - ie sugary drink, glucose tabs, sweets.
If your meal is 1-2 hrs - 1.5-2 CP quick acting carb and additional 1CP (10g ) slower acting carb.
If you meal is over 2 hours 1.5-2 CP quick acting carbs plus 2CP (20g) slower acting carb.
Take care and i hope you get it sorted,
Helen x
