Hi everyone, My girlfriend has type 2 diabetes. Last week she was admitted to hospital with DKA, she came out and every night since she has been waking up in the early hours suffering from a HYPO. I do most of the cooking in the house and i don't have diabetes, just wondered if anyone has any tips on what snack i could cook for her before bed so she gets a decent nights sleep?

Many Thanks

Dan

My DN suggested 3 digestive biscuits,

Most important thing to do is find the cause of the hypo, too much insulin, too strong tabs ? Discuss with dsn first but should not be happening. Trial and error in the meantime to see how many carbs needed before bed to avoid both going too high and low. Something sustaining and slow release 15~20 carbs.

I find half a slice of whole meal bread with peanut butter works for me but it's about trial and error, as mentioned above. Hope you find something which works!

Yes I would check with her nurse or doctor. A type 2 shouldnt be having regular hypos. Maybe her meds need checking. what meds is she on. What is her blood sugar level when she has these hypos?
