Can someone help me please?

I can't stay awake. I'm 23, bg levels are fine, below 10 most of the time but I just can not stay awake all day.

Usually around about now I have to have a nap for an hour or so, I can't fight it and it happens most days.
Thinking about it it's been happening for a few months now.

Just tested bg and it's 8.4 but I need a nap :(

Did you say on a post of yours that your diabetes hadn't been that well controlled? Maybe that's the reason for you.

Carbs make you sleep. Actually there was a program on not too long ago, where the Dr recommended eating carbs just before bed. The woman had insomnia, cant remember if it worked for her, but just goes to show what carbs can do.

Perhaps that's it then. Will try some low carb lunches. Thanks :)

You've mentioned this before Indiana and didn't you say you were awaiting blood test results, did you get them back or I'm I mistaken and it was someone else.

That happens to me at night after dinner. It could be carbs, but even eating a meal of mackerel fillets salad and a yogurt after, it can still happen. Could be habitual, boredom, ( I'm on my own) violins?;) could be a mixture of all. Hope you sleep well tonight Indiana:)

Apologies then Indiana. If the problem persists then see your gp and get some blood tests done, it's unlikely to be carbs as most people eat carbs and don't need to sleep during the day.

Rude people !
I would go see your doc. We sometimes get tunnel vision and think every ailment we get is somehow related to our diabetes but obviously it's not always the case. The docs don't help mind you, everything I see the doc for they say is related to diabetes ! Hope your doc is better than mine :)

Hopefully the holiday will do you the world of good.

I was told there was nothing wrong with me, all anyone could suggest was that I was depressed, my response 'I'm not depressed I'm just exhausted!!!' When my consultant reviewed my blood results and asked what was done about my iron levels it was such a relief - the gp's told me there was nothing wrong with me even though my iron levels were really low. Have you had your bloods done recently? x

Ask for ferritin too, not just Hb.

And B12, folate, thyroid tests as well.

+1 for the GP blood tests. I had a similar thing in 2007. I couldn't stay awake either and was down on energy. I used to go to the cinema with my friends on a Wednesday and I used to fall asleep half way through. The car trip home was a drawn out thing as they discussed the film and how good it was . Would love to have joined in but missing half of it I useless.

My results came back with low iron levels.

Good luck and all the best

Just a thought - in the late spring and summer months .
I sometimes need a short cat nap - due to often early waking with
more daylight hours early morns and sunlight till late evenings .
Its a short nap to catch up on flagging energy levels for me somedays
Always been like this even when I was younger .

Diagnosed with an underactive thyroid plus vitaminD deficiency too .
So these factors could play a role - in this ?
Looking back - it could be more linked to all of these factors .
Not just diabetes related with myself .

Worth asking your GP's advice Indiana .

I'm not working at the moment so I don't think it's because I'm tired from doing too much. I don't have a clue what it is.
If I sit down then that's it, I'm asleep!
If things are still the same after I've been away I'll go to the doctors, I'm missing a part of my day! It doesn't feel like a healthy tiredness either. It hits me and I can't fight it.
