I just had chips.........

Made with swede, and it really works. I weighed out 200 g. I put them in the oven after tossing them in the melted butter. They took about 40 minutes. Served up with sirloin steak and mushrooms. By my reckoning around 5gs of carbs for the lot, and it was yum!
 
yes, they're really nice. I prefer them to Celeriac chips..
 
That is something I must try too. I wonder if it would work with courgette as well?

I don`t think I would like celeriac chips as I hate celery.

Julia.There is a faint tate of swede about them, but they are sort of sweet. Maybe that is the butter at work. I am not mad on swede, but would rather that than celery :sick:

I am going to have egg and chips one day this week. My chickens are laying like there is no tomorrow.
 
Swede makes very good roasties .Give them a quick par boil and then roast in hot oven in the oil of your choice.

Probably not as low carb as swede but thin slices of parsnip make good chip "replacements".

I have deep fried them mind, so not low fat!

I've shallow fried batons of courgette in butter before - it was delicious. A lot like potatoe chips...
 
Great tips every one. I did think parsnip was out. Good news as it is one of my favourite veg
 
When I was in curaçao recently they sold a lot of Plantain chips. Bit like banana, thinly sliced longish and done, I think, in the oven. Good, tasted like normal thick crisps rather than banana
 
Try it Claymic - it does look weird but is really good, especially roasted and it lasts for ages. Also, you'll be the only one buying it which makes you look extra a) sophisticated b) professional c) knowledgeable

Do try it Clay, it's lovely. I was going to have celeriac chips tonight for my 'last supper' today, but the celeriac looked worse than ever, so went in the bin :cry:

Thanks for that idea! I just gave it a try and it worked well. So I had chicken and 'chips' followed by low-carb vanilla ice-cream in wafers. Came to about 15g carb in total and felt almost 'normal'!

In case anyone's interested, Askeys ice-cream wafers are 2.3g carb for two wafers (their cones are 2.9g carb each). They're sweetened with saccharin rather than sugar.
