Who is DESMOND for? I've never been told about any of these courses everyone talks about. Are they for medicated/insulin diabetics only?
Of course, that depends - it's not true for everyone ... I can eat bananas as a medium sized one will only raise my blood glucose by 1.7 mmol / L
Just saying!![]()
They also do mini Eclairs (2.9 total carbs each) and Profiteroles (similar carb content). It is just the frozen ones though

Show offs! I'm with @BrunneriaYes. I eat them as well.
Mumble mumble... mumble... profiteroles... Mumble mumble...
Huh?
HUH?!?
Did someone say profiteroles?
Be still my heart!
They are my ultimate fave desert!![]()
Trouble is most of the bad advice comes from the health "professionals". It's a good think we've got this website and support from people who may not be professionals, but at least we know that if certain things work we can at least try them out ourselves and if it doesn't work for us we just keep trying. That is terrifying.
There is so much breathtakingly bad advice out there, and it's been followed for so long that it's little wonder there are so many health problems now.
I've lost patience I'm afraid.

My yummy treat used to be a Starbucks latte with sugar free syrup, - until I saw what that much milk does to my blood sugar! Now I'm in mourning.

@xgemmiex your nurse probably wanted you to visit diabetes.org.uk (the charity who give dodgy dietary advice for Type 2's) and got her website addresses wrong and sent you here. Best thing she ever did.
DUK have a lot of good information especially for newbies explaining all about diabetes ..see their T2 magazine available free from Tesco... skip the food section if you are going to do LCHF.... they won't recommend low carbing so thats why they will rarely tell people about this forumWhat I don't get though, is my nurse told me about the diabetes.co.uk website as soon as she told me I was diabetic, saying it's a great site with loads of information. Surely, she (they) would've clicked the forum link and found all this wonderful information too? Baffling.
Really? A diabetes organisation that doesn't recommend low-carbing ? That's like an alcoholics' site that doesn't recommend non-alcoholic drinks! I think most newbies are less concerned with knowing all about diabetes and more concerned with learning how to combat it. I would have thought 'low-carb' would have been the most important thing for pre-diabetics and T2's, and useful for T1's as well. Still I'm sure DUK must have their own reasons for this.
