When my son was seven years old, (having been type 1 since 2 years old, I have two sons who were type one since toddlers ) stated that he did not want to go to the diabetic clinic because it was full of fat people, who eat too much, I was quite surprised at his perception.
Now at 34 years of age although more understanding, he still feels that he is being tarred with the same brush when he goes to the clinic, and has very little sympathy for people who cannot control their food intake, and does not enjoy the visit to the clinic, even although he is very slim.
Do you think that type one diabetics have a different view of type two diabetics? or is it just a lack of education on their part.
I have suggested that he should attend the EDWARDS course wher they discuss the differences between the two in order that he can be more empathic.
Has anyone else experienced this reaction?
