Hi all I was diagnosed type 2 in May last year and have to say I was fairly ill when initially diagnosed. The doc suggested tablets straight away but I wanted to try to control it without. So far I have managed to avoid being prescrbed meds so I am happy with that The only thing is I have had very few sick days prior to being diagnosed, but now I seem to get everything that is going Is this linked to my diabetes or have I just had an unlucky year. I do notce that when I amnot well my sugar levels shoot up and I can't control them, but my average is still 6.7. Sorry hope you can make sense of this

Hi Bonnie and welcome to the forum I am sure some members will be along soon to give you some advice. It is common that when you are not well your sugars go up - it happens to most of us. If you keep on being ill I would think you should go and visit your GP for a thorough check up.

Here is some basic information which was written for new members by our friends Ken and Sue, former monitors, which you will probably find helpful. Ask as many questions as you like as there is always someone who will answer.

Hi Bonnie and welcome to the forum
Yes, it is quite normal for your levels to go up when your ill. As Daisy said though if you keep being ill it would be a good idea to see your GP.
