Please bear with me as this is my first forum post here. Was wondering if anyone can be of any help.
I decided to do a full blood test a year ago (October 2014) and my results were not encouraging. My FBG was 6.7 with borderline high cholesterol. My GP asked me to redo the test together with a Hba1C. I was so worried that I barely ate during the three days before the test. My FBG went down to 6.37 and my HBA1C was at the lower limit of the normal range.
I weighed 95 kgs and so embarked on a weight loss and exercise programme. In February I did a full blood test again and my FBG result was once again 6.7, normal HBA1C and my cholesterol was in the normal level. I decided to buy a blood glucose monitor (Bionime GM550). I measure my fasting blood glucose every morning and it's always between 4.9 and 5.5.
I continued with my fat loss and exercise programme and I now weigh 78kgs (BMI 24.8). Having said that I still have close to 17% of body fat and a waist of 36inches.
Last month I did an OGTT test and my FBG was 6.8, one hour blood result 11 and two hour blood result 4.6. I also did the HBA1C was once again well into the normal range value.
I'm now really confused as to why my lab FBG is always high while my blood monitor readings are in the normal range. My OGTT and HBA1C are also good. Any help and advice as to how I can reduce the lab's FBG would be greatly appreciated
