I'm showing symptoms of inlfuenzan and my blood sugar (I'm zype 2) has shot up to 186 mg/dl. Is this to be expected, or should I up my international units of insulin?

Your higher readings could well be due to infection, however we are not allowed to advise on dosages of meds. Please get in touch with your health care professionals for advice.

Sorry to hear you're not well @Lionel12 I'm type 1, but if I get any infection, I have to increase my basal and bolus. However, I can only speak for myself. If you're not confident in changing insulin doses, please speak to your pharmacy, gp or nurse, or ring 111 for advice.

Hope you feel better soon. Take care.

@Lionel12 I’ve just got over flu symptoms. My fasting blood sugars were at 207 that’s without food for over 4 days and my day time blood sugars peaked at around 306. I usually control my blood sugars well.
